ABOUT I am currently studying for my Diploma in Architecture at Oxford Brookes University whilst keeping up my passion for painting which I have pursued for as long as I can remember. In my paintings I have mainly been inspired by Iyengar yoga poses, as they create unusual positions and interesting compositions. The poses create different stretches, tensions and shadows of the figure's muscles and form, which are not usually found in the static figure, along with an exceptional visual energy that transforms well onto the canvas. I find the use of colour a very key element to my paintings, to create different atmospheres to suit the specific pose and mood of the figure. I use influences from my everyday life in Cornwall, using the coastal landscape and seascape to influence my work and use of colour. I work using acrylics, which suits my very fluent, gestural, sketchy style, using the build-up of vibrant layers of paints with the merging and dripping of colours to differentiate contrasting spaces.EXHIBITIONS:02/07 'FIGURATIVELY SPEAKING', Vitreous Contemporary Art Gallery, Truro, Cornwall Solo Art Exhibition including 27 acrylic paintings.
